Japanese company Tsubame Industries, which specializes in robotic exoskeletons, introduced the Archax robotic suit that can be used in space research. In this respect reports Independent.
The weight of the robotic suit is 3.5 tons, its height is 4.5 meters and its cost is 3 million dollars (about 347.4 million rubles). It has four wheels and can switch between two modes: vertical (robot mode) and horizontal (vehicle mode). The robotic suit can mimic the movements of the human hand and fingers in vertical mode and reach speeds of up to 10 km/h in horizontal mode.
The robot suit has a cockpit for the pilot, which can control using joysticks and monitors. The cabin is located in the body of the robot; It receives video signals from cameras attached to the robot’s head and other parts. The robot suit also has a cooling and heating system for the pilot’s comfort.
The name Archax comes from Archeopteryx, a bird-like dinosaur. The developers of the robotic suit were inspired by Japanese anime, where giant robots controlled by humans often appear.
Ryo Yoshida, CEO of Tsubame Industries, said his goal is to create a product that reflects Japan’s strengths in animation, gaming, robots and cars. He also expressed hope that the robotic suit will be a useful tool for performing complex tasks in space and on Earth.
Tsubame Industries plans to produce and sell five copies of the Archax robot suit in the near future.
