What’s up announced about the upcoming release of new functions based on generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology, including the ability to create stickers and images, as well as communicate with an AI assistant.
WhatsApp developers emphasize that the artificial intelligence chat in messaging is an experimental technology and the assistant may give incorrect or inappropriate answers. Users were asked to be careful when communicating with the AI bot and not to send sensitive information.
WhatsApp also said that the introduction of new AI-powered features will not affect the privacy and security of users’ personal communications, and that these communications will continue to be protected by end-to-end encryption. Chats with AI bots will be visually different from regular chats.
WhatsApp will also give developers and companies the opportunity to use AI services in the WhatsApp API to create their own solutions and optimize correspondence with customers in messaging.
The timing of the rollout of new functionality in Messenger has not yet been announced. Most likely, the innovations will first appear to users of beta versions of WhatsApp, after which they will be available without restrictions on all platforms.
