Apple may have abandoned plans to release a cheaper version of its Vision Pro mixed reality (MR) headset. In this respect reports The MacRumors publication cites a statement from well-known insider and TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Kuo did not specify why Apple decided to give up on developing a budget-friendly MR headset, but noted that mass production of the new generation device will begin in the second half of 2027 at the latest. According to him, Apple will not release a hardware update for Vision Pro until then.
The analyst also noted that Apple will sell 400 to 600 thousand first-generation Vision Pro units by the end of 2024. In his opinion, this will be a great start, but despite this, it will take longer than the market expects for Apple to turn the Vision Pro into its new “star” product.
According to initial rumors, the price of the budget version of Vision Pro is expected to be close to older iPhone models.
The original Apple Vision Pro MR headset will be available in early 2024 for $ 3.5 thousand.
