Developers of Mortal Kombat 1 banned Russians from playing with players from other countries

Players from Russia and Belarus are largely complaining about the lack of online modes in the new Mortal Kombat 1 game. This refers to messages from dissatisfied players. informs DTF portal.

When users from Russia and Belarus try to use any online mode, the game displays a notification with the text “An error occurred connecting to the Mortal Kombat 1 server.” Thus, players cannot enter the lobby and fight with other users in their own country or another country.

According to DTF, the problem is seen at least in the PC and PlayStation 5 versions of Mortal Kombat 1. There is no information about malfunctions in Xbox Series X and S.

Some users report that they were able to bypass the restriction set by the developers by using a VPN.

DTF writes that this is not the first time Russian and Belarusian players have encountered restrictions in games from Mortal Kombat 1 publisher Warner Bros. A similar problem was previously observed in MultiVersus, another fighting game of the company.

The full release of Mortal Kombat 1 will take place on September 19, 2023. At the same time, those who purchased the expanded version of the game received early access on September 14.
