Ruselectronics holding, part of the state enterprise Rostec, has released the first batch of prototypes of an infrared camera with a range of up to 20 km. In this respect reports TASS.
The device is designed to be used in surveillance and rescue operations in poor visibility conditions. The camera can be part of manned and unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as ground-based observation systems.
“At night, a SWIR camera allows you to observe objects much more clearly than devices operating in the visible spectral range. When using laser illumination, the object detection range of our device is 3-3.5 times greater than that of medium- and long-wave range systems.” TASS quotes Alexey Vyaznikov, general director of the Central Research Institute “Elektron” (Ruselectronics holding).
It is stated that with the help of laser illumination, the camera can create high-resolution images even in pitch darkness, fog, rain, dust storm and other adverse conditions.
Previously in Russia presented Wired aerial drone to replace cameras on roads.
