China’s central government agencies have been instructed to ban iPhones and other foreign-branded devices for business purposes. In this respect informs The Wall Street Journal quotes sources.

The ban on foreign smartphone use was brought to the attention of civil servants through business chats, announcements and private meetings. In addition, it is prohibited not only to use the devices in the workplace, but also to bring them to the office. Previously, such restrictions were already in place in some institutions and departments, but now apply to an “extended circle of authorities”. China has also long been replacing computer equipment and software from foreign manufacturers with domestic counterparts.

According to the source, the current restrictions are related to rising tensions between China and the United States, which are taking increasingly stringent measures to protect their information and communications infrastructure. According to experts, such measures could adversely affect the business of Apple Corporation, which is the leader in China’s high-end smartphone market and receives about 19% of its total revenue from it.

In 2019, the US blacklisted Huawei, the leading Chinese smartphone manufacturer, due to a national security threat. The United States also banned government agencies from purchasing and using telecommunications equipment from Chinese companies ZTE, Hytera Communications Corporation, Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology, and Dahua Technology.

Formerly at Ministry of Digital Development said About their plans to talk to Samsung and Apple about the pre-installation of Russtore.
