According to the expert, besides installing the application, it will be useful to contact Roskomnadzor. The agency is receiving complaints against companies that violate personal data law and use citizens’ confidential information to distribute advertising information without their consent.
Fomin also believes that the Russian should make sure that he or she does not really allow this or that company to use their data. He says that sometimes this happens unconsciously. As an example of such a situation, the expert cited entering a phone number on a website to get a discount on a particular product.
“If you don’t want to receive persistent calls, consider whether you need a discount,” the expert said.
But even if that happens, Fomin reminds that Russians have the right to demand that companies delete and stop using personal data.
