In July and August 2023, the Infinix brand, owned by Transsion Holdings, was among the top three best-selling smartphones in Russia, ahead of Samsung and Realme. This was reported to socialbites.ca by the press service of the MTS company.
From January to August 2023, 18.6 million smartphones were sold in Russia for a total of 396.4 billion rubles; this was 26% in units and 12% in money more than a year ago. Throughout the year, Infinix took the fifth place among popular brands with a share of 6% on a unit basis, but its share started to increase rapidly with the start of the summer season. In July, Infinix became one of the three most popular brands, occupying 13% of the market, and maintained its position in August.
According to the results of August, the Xiaomi brand took the first place in the list of popular smartphones with a share of 34% on a unit basis. It is followed by Tecno (14%) and Infinix (13%), owned by Transsion Holdings, and Samsung (10%) and Realme (9%). In total, 2.9 million devices were sold in Russia last summer in the amount of 64.6 billion rubles; this is 50% more in quantity and 76% more in money compared to last year. A year ago, Xiaomi (42%), Realme (16%), Tecno (10%), Samsung (9%) and Apple (6%) took the lead.
MTS explained the increasing popularity of Tecno and Infinix with the high marketing activities of the brands.
