After repair, you should check the computer onsite at the service center (SC) and ask for a quality certificate and original packaging before installing the part. Sergey Kuzmenko, head of information security of the Roskachestvo Center for Digital Expertise, told socialbites.ca.
“You need to check all functions announced for repair directly in SC. There are times when the computer is not completely repaired or they forget to connect a device. The same goes for delivery by courier – do not leave money until you have everything checked out. Do not accept meetings in the subway, so as not to pass verification. Suddenly the laptop was visited by scammers pretending to be a service center and was not even repaired. Also in the workshop you need to be given a certificate of completion, ”the expert warned.
Also, cheap analogues can be used instead of original spare parts, according to Kuzmenko. The customer will not be able to check the authenticity of the product.
“There is no way to verify this. But you may want to see the original branded packaging and certificate of the part,” he said.
You should also pay attention to the pricing policy of the service center. It can only indirectly indicate the quality of work – it is not unusual to use cheap, low-quality analogues instead of expensive original parts. It should also be a warning if prices are too high or too low for certain services.
Without documents confirming that the gadget was repaired in a service center and an act of service was performed, you cannot make any claims, ”concluded Kuzmenko.
