In China, a bill is being drafted that will not allow students using artificial intelligence (AI) to write their final thesis to get a diploma. The newspaper reports Chinese Daily.
The bill was discussed in the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China. Lawmakers are recommending that students who use artificial intelligence to write articles or who are found guilty of plagiarism or data tampering should have their diplomas revoked. In addition, academic degrees cannot be awarded to those who use someone else’s name when entering a university, or who illegally obtain or complete a certificate of admission to an educational institution. Students who use third party data for admission to higher education institutions will be held criminally liable.
The publication states that, as a rule, the law was passed by the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress after three debates.
