AMD launches mid-budget rivals to popular Nvidia graphics cards

AMD has expanded its mid-range Radeon graphics card lineup with two new models, the RX 7800 XT and the RX 7700 XT. Both are based on the Navi 32 architecture, informs 3DNews portal.

The Radeon RX 7800 XT features 60 compute units and 3840 stream processors, along with 64MB of Infinity Cache and 16GB of 19.5GHz GDDR6 memory. The memory bus width is 256 bits. The maximum GPU frequency reaches 2.43 GHz, and the power consumption of the entire board is 263 watts.

The less powerful Radeon RX 7700 XT features 54 processing units and 3456 stream processors, as well as 48MB of Infinity Cache and 12GB of 18GHz GDDR6 memory. The memory bus width is 192 bits. The maximum GPU frequency is 2544MHz and the power consumption of the whole board is 245W.

In terms of performance, the Radeon RX 7800 XT competes with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4070. In games with 1440p resolution and the highest graphics settings, the AMD graphics card has an average of 3.5% superiority over its rival, but Nvidia has an advantage in some games with ray tracing. Under the same conditions, the Radeon RX 7700 XT is ahead of its competitor by an average of 12% against the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti with 16GB of memory.

Both graphics cards support HDMI 2.1 interface for connection to monitors and TVs with high resolution and refresh rate. The Radeon RX 7800 XT will be available in a dual-fan reference design, while the Radeon RX 7700 XT will be available only at AMD partners.

The Radeon RX 7800 XT will go on sale on September 6 for $500 in the US and €550 in Europe, while the RX 7700 XT will cost $450 and €490.
