According to experts, the moisture in the headphones is caused by the condensation of sweat inside the aluminum containers. When the earphones are fully seated on the head, the aluminum stays cooler than the wearer’s ear temperature. This creates a temperature difference that encourages condensation. If liquid leaks into the AirPods through the speaker openings, it may damage the earphones.
This issue was discovered in 2020 when AirPods Max first went on sale. Not all users who use the company’s flagship headphones experience this situation. However, some gadget owners have combined to file a class action lawsuit against Apple. The case is now entering its second year.
Apple representatives do not deny the existence of a condensation problem. However, they argue that users should be more careful when using headphones in certain conditions.
Apple has not made any official statement regarding this issue. But in some cases, the company has replaced it for free in case the AirPods Max fails due to condensation.
