The Korean company Samsung has started developing the ISOCELL HU1 camera for smartphones with an incredibly high resolution of 440 MP. These release reports wccftech.
“Samsung plans to exceed the 200 MP threshold for the sensor, the company is preparing three new sensors in the second half of 2024, one of which will be 440 MP,” Revegnus said.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra currently uses a 200 MP primary sensor. At the same time, the source could not specify which smartphone model could get a 440 MP sensor.
A new 200-megapixel HP7 camera with a pixel size of 0.6 microns is also in development, according to Revegnus.
Current generation chips cannot support any 440MP sensors, so Samsung needs to create a new processor that can handle such a high-end sensor.
According to Wccftech reporters, all three sensors will be released in the second half of 2024 and will be used in the 440-megapixel premium flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra.
