Pavel Durov, founder and head of Telegram, called it silly to compare stories on his service and statuses on WhatsApp, as part of a session answering questions from messenger users. In this respect informs Telegram information channel.

As previously known, Telegram users without a Premium subscription will be able to post up to three stories per day, while a similar function in other free social networks and WhatsApp messenger does not have such strong restrictions.

“I think it is very silly for many reasons to compare the current daily limits for stories in Telegram to WhatsApp,” Durov said.

He stated that the current restrictions are necessary for the soft start (pre-initialization of the function), so that the load on the servers increases gradually, not suddenly. According to Durov, it’s always easier to raise server-side limits after launch than lower them.

“Telegram stories are a completely different genre as they are displayed on the home screen and not stored in a separate tab like in WhatsApp. Therefore, they (stories) are much more specific and can be much more annoying if they are allowed to be used without any restrictions, ”admitted Durov.

On the night of August 13-14, Pavel Durov addressed the subscribers of his channel, celebrating the tenth anniversary of the messenger. It also announced the launch of stories for all users – in July this feature was launched only for Telegram Premium subscribers.

Previously on WhatsApp messenger you have an opportunity Send video mugs in Telegram style.
