According to the players, their accessories were damaged when trying to disconnect the USB due to overheating of the contacts. For some, the problem led to a broken port of the console itself.
Reports of such events are posted both on game forums and on social networks. According to players, the problem occurs after several hours of long gaming sessions.
“The PS5’s USB ports get so hot that connected accessories can melt or even short out,” a forum post wrote.
PPE has not received an official comment from Sony about the defect. So far, gamers have not been able to determine whether it is really just the console working for a long time due to overheating. It is also unknown if the issue is with all PS5 models or a specific set of consoles.
