Star Wars: Outlaws will feature an open world with the ability to travel between planets, including well-known fans of the series like Tatooine. This was announced in an interview with the magazine by Julian Geraghty, creative director of Ubisoft Massive Entertainment. EDGE.
“It’s a bit of a rough analogy, but one planet is the size of two regions in Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey. In some cases, two or three regions,” he said. In the Odyssey, the regions were geographically divided and were scaled-down replicas of the actual regions of ancient Greece.
Heraty also assured that every planet in Star Wars: Outlaws is created manually, not using procedural rendering. So Ubisoft’s approach is close to that of Bioware in the Mass Effect trilogy.
The creative director explained that ultimately there will be no complete freedom of action in the game. For example, it will be impossible to fly over planets. Embarkation and disembarkation will always occur at specific points.
The game takes place in the era of the original Star Wars trilogy, now available as the fourth, fifth and sixth chapters in the original story.
Star Wars: Outlaws is scheduled to be released for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC in 2024.
