Canadian resident Mark Skage claims he was fired from his job at AFD Petroleum Inc. for rescuing a calf from a potential black bear attack. writes about it CBC News.

A Canadian man was on his way home from work when he saw a calf walking slowly by the roadside in British Columbia. When he stopped and got out of the car, the animal tried to get into the passenger compartment. Skage noticed a bear chasing a calf and was 45 meters away.

“After trying to get into the truck, I decided I couldn’t just leave it there. So I put him in the passenger seat and went into town to seek help,” he said.

Skage called his boss and the local conservation inspector and told him about his plight. She named the calf Misty and found a rehab center where she would be cared for until she was ready for wildlife.

According to Mark Skage, he knew that collecting and transporting wild animals is prohibited under Canadian law. Due to this crime, the Canadian lost his job.

“Is everything okay? NO. AFD thought otherwise and decided that I was in serious conflict with their wildlife policy,” he said.
