Often unofficially referred to as the homepage of the Internet, Reddit has issued a final warning to community moderators, who continue to oppose the decision to introduce paid subscriptions for access to APIs from third-party apps. It has been reported PCMag.

In the appeal, unruly moderators were threatened with blocking, which prevented them from posting ads on forum pages for assigning NSFW status to their subreddit.

This actually does not violate the rules of the platform and is a form of protest to force the administration to unsubscribe. The NSFW (Not Safe for Work) label indicates adult content, including explicit photos and videos.

“Please fix the NSFW tag in your subreddit immediately. Otherwise, your moderation team will be dealt with by the end of this week. In the r/PICs community moderators note, moderators will be removed from the development team,” he says.

Similar warnings were received by moderators of other subreddits such as r/cyberpunkgame and r/bookscirclejerk.

Thousands of users of the Reddit forum since June 12 announced management strike against the introduction of paid subscriptions for developers and researchers. The service kept its API free for everyone for years.

Reddit CEO Steve Huffman in an interview with The Verge surethat the platform spent about $10 million to pay for the infrastructure to run the site, and API fees are required for third-party apps. He also stated that Reddit-based third-party app developers make millions and don’t pay anything to Reddit.
