American decentralized social network Bluesky has temporarily suspended registration of new accounts due to mass user transfer from Twitter. In this respect informs Edition of The Verge.

Shortly after Elon Musk announced a new restriction for users without a paid Twitter Blue subscription, Twitter users began migrating to Bluesky. We are talking about imposing a daily limit on the number of posts that can be viewed on the social network.

Bluesky said they are suspending account registrations to fix technical issues caused by the new influx of users. This happened despite the fact that registration on the Twitter analogue is in principle possible only with invitation codes from existing Bluesky users.

“We’re suspending registrations with Bluesky as our team works to resolve performance issues. We’ll keep you updated and let you know when invite codes are back up and running. We look forward to having lots of new users in our beta soon,” Bluesky said in a statement! said.

The Verge noted that the biggest stability issues were observed in the web version of Bluesky. The social network client for iOS also crashes, but overall the app works stably.

Bluesky is a Twitter counterpart that launched in beta testing in early 2023. The project is being developed with the support of Twitter founder Jack Dorsey.
