Apple has officially announced the end of support and service support for the 12-inch MacBook. The popular laptop was declared obsolete, informs MacRumors portal.
Listing a device as a retired product means that the laptop can no longer be repaired or serviced at Apple Stores or Apple Authorized Service Providers. According to Apple policy, a product is considered obsolete if it has not been manufactured for more than 7 years.
With a 12-inch Retina display, the MacBook was Apple’s first laptop with a single USB Type-C port. It was also distinguished by its thin and light body – the total weight of the laptop was only 920 grams. Starting at $1,300, this MacBook featured a dual-core Intel Core M processor, 8GB of non-expandable RAM, and a 256GB or 512GB SSD as standard.
Apple released three generations of 12-inch MacBooks from 2015 to 2017, and then focused on the development of the MacBook Air and Pro laptops.
