The National Museum of Scotland opened the Beyond the Little Black Dress exhibition featuring more than 60 images from collectors and designers. It has been reported Guard.
The exhibition Beyond the Little Black Dress opened on Friday, June 30. It brings together more than 60 looks from collectors and designers around the world so visitors can follow the evolution of the iconic “little black dress.”
The exhibition’s chief curator, Georgina Ripley, says that over 100 years of social change can be traced back to the dress. Experts have not been able to find out who first coined the commonly used term “little black dress.”
“We just didn’t want to show off the little black dresses. From the very beginning, many of them crossed the usual “boundaries” of masculinity and femininity. Others walk the fine line between respect and rebellion. We wanted to challenge the audience,” said Georgina Ripley.
Previously in London passed exhibition of the legendary Vivienne Westwood corsets.
