Apple buys a tech company that works with the US military

Apple has acquired Mira, an AR startup partnered with the US military and Japanese game company Nintendo. In this respect informs The Verge’s edition cites Mira CEO Ben Taf’s post on Instagram (the owner of Meta was considered extremist and banned in Russia).

The amount of the transaction was not disclosed. According to The Verge, Mira’s market value is estimated at $17 million. Journalist sources said the startup was previously associated with former Apple designer Jony Ive.

One of Mira’s flagship products is the Prism Pro augmented reality headset. The company has contracts with the US Air Force and Navy for the supply of this equipment. The latter paid Mira about $702,000, The Verge believes Apple will end Mira’s partnership with the military after the merger.

Mira’s other big client is Nintendo. He buys AR headsets for the Mario Kart attraction at theme parks in Japan and Los Angeles.

The Verge writes that as part of the deal, Apple kidnapped at least 11 Mira employees.

Apple did not approve of the acquisition of Mira, but noted that it regularly buys smaller companies.
