Prince Harry believes the British press was a “major factor” in his breakup with ex-girlfriend Chelsea Davy. It has been reported Page Six.

In a written statement received by journalists on Tuesday, the Duke of Sussex admitted that he felt his relationship with Chelsea Davy was “always doomed” due to the “curious stares of the tabloids”.

“It felt like you were being watched all the time. I think it was even harder to deal with when Chelsea lived in England… Everyone has a limit to what they can get,” he elaborated.

The statement was made as part of Prince Harry’s ongoing lawsuit against the British tabloid Daily Mirror. The youngest son of the king of Great Britain claims that some 140 articles about his life published in the newspaper between 1996 and 2010 contain information obtained by illegal means.

Prince Harry and Chelsea Davy dated from 2004 to 2010. The couple split after Davy decided that “royal life is not for him” due to intense press scrutiny. The Duke of Sussex said he was “incredibly sorry” for their departure but understood why Chelsea did so.
