A post has been published on the official website of the Polish community Samsung, in which the South Korean tech giant acknowledges the problem with the phantom blur of photos taken on the flagship Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus smartphones and promises to fix it. An issue with the cameras of Samsung devices was discovered in March 2023. It is expressed in the appearance of radial blur in photographs when shooting objects at a relatively close distance. Only some instances of the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus are known to be affected by the bug.

“When testing the features of the S23 or S23 Plus camera, you may have noticed that the area around the subject looks a bit blurry when shooting close-ups. This is because the rear wide-angle camera on the S23 and S23 Plus has a bright aperture for better performance in the dark. , at certain focus settings, this feature can blur the background of your photos a bit,” said Samsung.

In his post, the manufacturer also assured that it will fix this issue with future software updates. Until then, Samsung has suggested a few rules when taking photos. The company recommends reshooting a particularly blurry subject from a slightly longer distance. You can also try reframing the photo by holding your smartphone vertically instead of horizontally or diagonally.
