The head of the CyberMoscow project, Grigory Pashchenko, told how to identify a phone scammer calling. He listed it in an interview with the radio Sputnik Here are a few ways to protect against scammers.
According to the expert, personal data leaks mostly occur due to the fault of online stores and food delivery services. Pashchenko recommends using a fictitious name when communicating with such services.
Suppose a person calls himself Ivan Ivanovich Ivanov. If the base was leaked to intruders, they call Ivan Ivanovich Ivanov, the subscriber will immediately understand that this is a scammer.
Scammers often pretend to be relatives of potential victims. For example, they report an alleged misfortune and ask for money. To counter such situations, you need to agree on a code word with your loved ones in an emergency. If a person has doubts, they may ask for a code word.
You can also forward scam numbers to the browser search engine and monitor reviews.
Another way to expose a scammer is to ask them to make a video call.
“Even if a person says he is in a state of passion and cannot make a video call, it is not worth it,” Pashchenko warned.
