The American company Microsoft ceases to support the popular function – voice assistant Cortana – in Windows operating systems. It has been reported XDA Developers with reference to the data specified on the institution’s website.
The post states “Microsoft will no longer support Cortana as a standalone app on Windows from late 2023.” According to the portal, the decision was influenced by the emergence of a new feature based on artificial intelligence in the operating system.
During the May Build conference, the Redmond-based company announced a new Windows Copilot tool that will sit in the taskbar inside the operating system and will use artificial intelligence to assist users.
Microsoft assured that the new assistant can summarize the day, rewrite texts, suggest actions to the user, and configure computer settings based on analysis of user actions.
Microsoft first introduced Cortana to Windows 10 in 2015. Assistant allowed you to set reminders, open apps, and answer questions using voice commands. But over the past few years, the tech giant has been slowly removing Cortana from Windows. Cortana stopped showing up in the taskbar for the first time with the release of Windows 11.
Cortana in April 2021 has stopped working On smartphones with Android and iOS mobile operating systems. Then, since the assistant could not compete with analogues from Google and Apple, the company decided to abandon the project.
