Mac users often feel safe ignoring existing vulnerabilities in Apple’s macOS operating system. The head of the Zecurion analytical center, Vladimir Ulyanov, told socialbites.ca about this.

“For macOS, as with other operating systems, not all attack vectors are truly viable. However, attackers still have plenty of options to pierce their arsenal. “Users also have a false sense of security that makes their data particularly vulnerable to modern cyber threats.”

According to him, macOS users need to be prepared for possible attacks by hackers and experts discovering more and more vulnerabilities in popular programs and systems.

As an example, Ulyanov cited that Apple patched a vulnerability in WebKit, an engine for viewing web pages used by several dozen applications, including the Safari browser and many other applications under macOS, only in early 2023.

“Processing malicious web content allowed attackers to execute arbitrary code, including malicious code. Apple noted that at the time the vulnerability was eliminated, it was actively used by hackers, ”the head of the Zecurion analytical center concluded.

In April, experts from cybersecurity company Cyble discovered Malware for macOS distributed on Telegram messenger. The virus can steal various data from users’ computers.
