Microsoft announced about the launch of Windows Copilot, a new artificial intelligence assistant integrated directly into Windows 11.
The AI-powered assistant is similar to the AI panels currently available on Edge browser, Office, and GitHub. Windows Copilot will allow Windows 11 users to interact with an AI assistant in any application or program. The novelty is a sidebar that can be called from the taskbar and pinned to the left or right edge of the screen.
Windows Copilot can analyze the content on the computer screen and suggest different actions depending on what the user is working on. For example, it can summarize, paraphrase or explain a text or picture, change system settings, open an app, check for updates, and more.
It is stated that Windows Copilot is built on the basis of GPT-4 and supports Bing Chat and ChatGPT plugins, which expands the functionality of the assistant by allowing the integration of third-party plugins.
Microsoft will begin testing Windows Copilot for Windows Insider program members in June of this year. It is not known when the innovation will come to Windows 11.
