Members of the European Parliament will discuss the artificial intelligence (AI) law, which proposes to introduce new rules for transparency and risk management for such systems in Europe. This has been reported area EP.

The draft negotiating mandate on the initial rules for artificial intelligence was passed by the Internal Market Committee and the Civil Liberties Committee, with 84 MPs in favor, 7 against and 12 with abstentions.

In the statement, it was stated that the lawmakers’ amendments to the commission’s proposal aim to ensure that artificial intelligence systems are under human control, safe, transparent, traceable, non-discriminatory and environmentally friendly. They also want to have a single definition of AI designed to be technology-neutral so that it can be applied to all systems.

The AP noted that once approved, these rules will be the world’s first rules on artificial intelligence. In particular, biometric surveillance, emotion recognition, artificial intelligence smart systems are recommended to be banned. In addition, complaints can be made against artificial intelligence systems.
