YouTube users using ad blockers started receiving pop-up notifications about their ban on the platform. Due to the novelty, which videos cannot viewers open? complained One of the users of the Reddit forum.

Expanding to almost full screen, the notification prompts the user to subscribe to a paid YouTube Premium subscription to watch the video ad-free or continue watching with ads.

Shortly after the post went live, YouTube moderators confirmed that it was part of an experimental Google feature, details of which have yet to be revealed.

Most likely, YouTube plans to launch a large-scale campaign against ad blockers in the future. Google, which owns YouTube, has long opposed such extensions. Thus, in 2016 it banned them for the proprietary Chrome browser, and last year ended support for the YouTube Vanced application, which enabled some functions for users from a paid subscription, including watching videos without ads.

Formerly socialbites.ca saidThat Russian smartphone manufacturers are using MicroG to circumvent Google’s restrictions.
