The Indian government has banned the use of 14 mobile apps in the country, 13 of which are instant messaging. In this respect informs Edition of Ani News.
The reason for the ban is that the apps are mainly used to “spread terrorism and propaganda” in the territory of the Union of Jammu and Kashmir. Sources said the banned messaging apps were used by terrorists in Kashmir to communicate with fans.
IMO, Threema, Crypviser and other messengers are banned. A government spokesperson told reporters that these mobile apps are not available in India, making it difficult to track user activity.
It is noted that at the time of writing, the applications are still available on Google Play and App Store in India. The ban does nothing to prevent users who have already downloaded the app from continuing to use the app.
