A new app from Apple has surfaced on the US Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO) website, announcing the sound enhancement system in the AirPods series headphones. In this respect informs GizmoChina version.
The new technology is called “Virtual Listening Environment Measurement”. Judging by the description of the application, it is a mechanism for automatically calibrating the sound in the headphones, focusing on the acoustic characteristics of the room. The patent description describes installation scenarios for listening to music and watching videos in the car, classroom, train, living room and more.
It is noted that the setup will include headset microphones as well as their computing units. The algorithm will determine which room the person is in, measure the acoustic pressure in the ear canal, and adjust the volume according to the original parameters of the audio or video file being played.
It is not yet clear whether the company will bring this idea to life. Usually, most of the Apple patents discovered by the media remain concepts.
