A Texas man found his stolen car using an Apple AirTag tracking device and then shot the thief without waiting for the police. Portal reports business insider.

The Texan went to look for a stolen van with two of his relatives because he was able to track his location using the AirTag in the car, an Apple tracker that transmits its geolocation to the owner’s mobile device. They found the car in the parking lot of the shopping center – a man was sitting in it.

One of the men confronted the possible hijacker without waiting for the police to arrive. According to him, he noticed a gun in the hands of a stranger and therefore shot him with his own gun. The man later died of his injuries. He is known to be of Hispanic descent and to be in his 30s.

San Antonio police officer Nick Soliz announced an investigation into the incident and warned citizens against such arbitrary behavior that led to the disaster.

“It’s very sad if your car has been stolen, but please don’t take matters into your own hands,” Soliz said.
