Meta company (known as extremist and banned in Russia) is exploring the possibility of launching a new social network that will become a decentralized analogue of Twitter. It has been reported Reuters Based on the company’s statement.
“We are exploring the idea of a separate decentralized social network for exchanging text posts. We believe there is a need for a separate space where bloggers and public figures can share news on topics of interest,” Mark Zuckerberg said in a statement.
The main difference between decentralized platforms is that they are installed on thousands of servers, mostly managed by volunteer administrators. For example, Mastodon service, which is also considered as an alternative to Twitter, works according to this principle.
It is assumed from Meta that the first version of the decentralized social network will be part of Instagram (its owner Meta is considered extremist in Russia and is banned) – authorization will be available only to users of photo hosting.
Formerly socialbites.ca we talked about itThe Meta* source code of the LLaMA neural network was leaked to the network two weeks after the rollout.
