Apple and Foxcoon have managed to lobby for a new law in India that allows women to work 12-hour and night shifts. Portal reports Gadget Trend. It is assumed that the new rules will increase iPhone production in the country.

The law will apply in the state of Karnataka, where a new Foxconn factory will be built to manufacture Apple smartphones. For example, similar laws are known to exist in China, where women often work in electronics assembly plants. State law now limits the maximum workweek to 48 hours, but also increases the allowed overtime hours to 145 hours per quarter (compared to the previous 75 hours).

“India will be the next major manufacturing hub, but when we compare India to other countries, we need to be very efficient in terms of increasing labor productivity,” said an anonymous Indian government source.

Foxconn currently manufactures the iPhone at a factory in Tamil Nadu. Apple also uses the services of Pegatron and Wistron, whose factories are also located in India.

Formerly socialbites.ca we talked about itthat the under-display Face ID sensor will not appear on the iPhone before 2025.
