Russian computer equipment dealer “Bion” has hired a domestic humanoid robot to act as a security guard and concierge at one of the company’s offices near Moscow. This was reported to socialbites.ca by the Russian company Promobot, which developed the android.

It is noted that the robot will greet office visitors and control their access. The machine’s software has an integrated access control and management system (ACS) that allows people to scan their passports and verify document data with the database of company employees and guests.

In the absence of access, a person can ask the robot to call the secretary. The secretary will identify the person via the video link, learn the details of his visit and give a command to the robot to allow the guest to pass.

“The robot issues pass cards, scans the passport and checks the authenticity of the document, gains access to the facility and even talks about abstract topics. In general, Promobot Chairman Aleksey Yuzhakov excels at anything a casual receptionist does.

According to Yuzhakov, since the robot does not have to be paid a salary, the cost of acquiring it instead of a person at the reception is hammered for an average of six months.
