The Civil Guard, unlike others, warned of this scam on its official Twitter account. cybercriminals won’t try to get your bank details or other information hidden.
The purpose of this scam steal your account What’s up, because these 6 digits they want are actually the verification code WhatsApp wants. to install the linked account on another device to your mobile number.
In this way, if someone tries to upload your WhatsApp account to a new medium (mobile phone, computer, tablet…) the app itself asks you to add these 6 digits to make sure there is no undesired access.
The way cheating works is very simple. The cybercriminal tries to hack into your account with his device and sends a message like this: “Hello. I’m sorry I accidentally sent a 6 digit code via SMS, can you send it to me? It’s a hurry”.
As the Civil Guard points out, this request should be ignored, because “if you give this to a third party, they will control your account on their device and with it they will have access to all your groups and contacts.”
