South Korean seller Samsung has developed a new design for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 foldable smartphone that will reduce the thickness of the device by 3mm. It has been reported 9to5Google.

“The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is almost 16mm thick at its thickest point. Most smartphones have a thickness of 7-9 mm, so often switching to Fold means that the device becomes almost twice as thick in the hands,” he said.

According to them, Samsung has also reduced the thickness of its foldable design with the new hinge design in the Galaxy Z Fold 5. As a result, the device will have a thickness of 13mm when closed, which is closer to the standards of most devices.

“This is because Samsung’s new hinge also removes the gap found in previous models,” 9to5Google said.

The similar Oppo Find N2 smartphone has a similar waterdrop notch hinge, but at just over 16mm when closed. At the same time, the folding Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 already has a thickness of only 11.2 mm when closed.
