Apple has teamed up with Chinese company Luxshare to develop an augmented reality headset. It has been reported Nikkei Asia Review.
It is reported that Apple, which is working on the first generation of its own device for the first time in the company’s history, turned to a supplier from China. At the same time, the Cupertino-based company has been collaborating with Luxshare for a long time in the production of not only AirPods and Apple Watches, but also iPhone smartphones. According to Nikkei, the Chinese company will now take over control of a group of developers that previously created AR headsets for Apple as part of Taiwanese company Pegatron.
Apple’s first augmented reality headset is expected to be announced in June this year. According to preliminary data, the gadget will go on sale before the end of 2023. The cost of new items is expected to be quite high (3-5 thousand dollars). The purpose of the initial launch is to draw the attention of new customers and partners to this technology.
