Users of Microsoft’s Outlook email client received numerous spam messages for several hours on Feb. It has been reported BleepingComputer.

The issue has been extensively reported on both social media and the Microsoft Community forum. It was noted that a large number of unsolicited letters began to arrive in mailboxes, including those previously marked as spam and sent to the trash.

According to user complaints, setting mail to only receive letters from trusted sources did not change the situation in any way – spam and phishing mails continued to arrive in mailboxes non-stop.

But the Outlook service status section on the Office site claimed that everything was working normally for a long time after the messages popped up online. The company later confirmed the existence of the problem.

Microsoft has now confirmed that the spam issue has been fixed. According to the company, disruptions were observed between 08:00 Moscow time and 20:55 Moscow time on February 20.

By the end of January, users around the world problems experienced when working with dozens of Microsoft online services.
