Finnish mobile game developer Rovio has announced that the cult project Angry Birds will soon be removed from the Google Play app store. This is reported on the studio page. twitter.

“We have re-evaluated the role of Rovio Classics: Angry Birds in our business and have decided to remove the game from the Google Play Store on February 23, considering the impact of the project on our large portfolio of games,” the statement said.

It is stated that after the removal of Angry Birds from Google Play, the downloaded game will continue to work on all devices with the Android mobile operating system. The company also said that it plans to rename the game on the App Store to Red’s First Flight for iPhone smartphones.

The first version of Angry Birds was released on 11 December 2009 for Apple smartphones running iOS. The game soon became a cult game all over the world and many new versions and additions were made to the original.

However, the essence of the project has not changed – players need to shoot birds with a slingshot at enemies with green pigs in various buildings and structures. The birds broke the pigs’ nests and the level was considered complete after all the pigs in the area were destroyed.

Angry Birds in April 2022 accepted modern version of a new engine. The project was rebuilt based on the Unity engine for use on different devices and platforms.
