The first reviews of Atomic Heart were published on the Internet, and it seems from this that Western journalists quite well received the Russian game. At the time the news was posted on the Metacritic aggregator site, Atomic Heart it was 78 out of 100 based on 14 reviews.
The highest rating – 9 out of 10 – was given by Shacknews. Atomic Heart was given a slightly lower rating – 8 out of 10 – by IGN, PCGamesN, and GameStar. Basically, the Russian game is praised for its high-quality graphics, successful borrowing of game mechanics from BioShock and Prey, and successful musical accompaniment, for which star composer Mick Gordon is responsible.
It is noteworthy that some media outlets do not bypass the fact that Atomic Heart is of Russian origin. For example, the German site GameStar “pardoned” the new shooter for failing to instill communist ideas but instead portraying the USSR’s political system as brutal.
Formerly socialbites.ca published Atomic Heart review highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of the new Russian project.
