The Cyber Security Agency, under the US Department of Homeland Security, has warned of the dangers of using iPhones and other Apple devices without updating to the latest operating system version. This was reported by the TV channel. Fox News.
According to the US department, the devices are listed as dangerous because gadgets can be hacked by hackers before updates are downloaded and installed. The threat has been officially confirmed by the American company Apple.
The ministry said the Cupertino-based company has released important updates that fix critical vulnerabilities in Safari browsers on iPhone, iPad and Macs.
We are talking about such versions of operating systems as iOS 16.3.1, iPadOS 16.3.1 and macOS Ventura 13.2.1. Apple also offers Safari 16.3.1 to older computer operating systems such as macOS Big Sur and macOS Monterey.
US authorities warned that without the update, attackers could exploit the vulnerability and observe unprotected user data, among other things.
According to Fox News, the threat is serious enough to cause the Department of Homeland Security not to issue an alert about every update of Apple devices.
