Apple is developing touchscreen versions of the MacBook Pro laptops and plans to launch the gadgets before 2025. Agency reports Bloomberg.

“The active involvement of Apple engineers on the project indicates that the company is seriously considering launching touchscreen Mac computers for the first time in its history,” agency sources said.

In 2010, Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple, criticized this type of control over computers. The businessman said installing a touchscreen on a Mac would be a “terrible ergonomics” decision. In 2012, Apple CEO Tim Cook mocked Microsoft’s decision to merge tablets and laptops into one device.

According to the agency, Apple’s touchscreen laptops will launch in 2025 as part of a more comprehensive refresh of the MacBook Pro. The company also plans to switch from liquid crystal display technology to LED technology to provide higher image contrast.

According to Bloomberg, Apple realized that laptops were overtaking iPads, and the Cupertino-based company felt the move to touchscreens was right as well.
