Apple began to develop its own Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip to replace the relevant components of the American company Broadcom. agency writes Bloomberg with reference to sources.
According to the agency, Apple plans to build its own controller to phase out Broadcom components by 2025. The Cupertino-based company remains Broadcom’s largest client, accounting for about 20% of the company’s revenue.
“Apple is working on a follow-up version that will combine cellular connectivity, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth into a single component,” the article says.
Smartphones remain Apple’s main source of revenue, and Broadcom continues to supply Apple with RF chips and other components, including those that support wireless charging. However, the iPhone maker plans to replace these gadget components over time.
Formerly analyst Ming-Chi Kuo saidApple has yet to create its own 5G communications standard chip for iPhone smartphones, which will replace Qualcomm’s developments.
