The data of hundreds of millions of Twitter users was in the public domain

On one of the hacker sites, they found a database containing the data of 200 million users of the public social network Twitter. This has been said by security experts from Privacy Affairs, reports Record.

According to analysts, this is an actual and undoubled database that was reported stolen at the end of December 2022. The hackers then demanded $200,000 from Twitter and CEO Elon Musk for a database of 400 million accounts.

Also, the data string does not contain passwords and user addresses. The database includes information such as logins, nicknames, profiling dates, subscriber count, and email addresses.

Privacy Affairs stated that this data is not enough to hack accounts directly, but hackers can attempt hacking using social engineering. For example, sending fake emails requesting a password change.

Experts found that the 65 GB database contains information on the accounts of Donald Trump Jr., Google CEO Sundar Pichai, SpaceX, CBS Media and the World Health Organization (WHO).
