What’s new in iPhone 15
The iPhone 15 will visually resemble the iPhone 14, but the entire new series will receive a cut in the form of a “tablet”, independent IT specialist Dmitry Bevza told socialbites.ca.
“This means that all versions of the iPhone 15 will use Dynamic Island,” he said.
According to Bevza, it is very likely that the Lightning port has already been removed on the iPhone 15. “It will be replaced with a USB-C port, which will enable smartphones to comply with European regulatory standards,” Bevza said.
He explained that the regulations are in the process of being adopted and the deadline has been set for the fall of 2024. However, the expert noted that there is every reason to believe that the Cupertino company will complete the transition to USB-C in an accelerated manner by 2023.
Bevza also agrees with insider Ming-Chi Kuo that the largest number of updates in the triple camera block are planned for the Pro series – iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The specialist explained that the most expensive “iPhones” in the new series will receive a “periscope” lens that will provide 10x optical zoom.
“The European price of the iPhone 15 may increase slightly in 2022 due to reasonable inflation in the EU,” Bevza said. However, this does not mean that Russian prices for new products will also increase,” he said. According to the analyst, with inflation in the European Union, the euro could fall against the ruble.
“An increase in prices in rubles is possible only if something affects the growth of the euro and new difficulties arise in logistics that will increase its cost,” Bevza said.
Ivan Samoylenko, managing partner of B&C Agency, told socialbites.ca that the iPhone 15 also has a 120 Hz display with LTPO technology, which allows the frequency to be adjusted according to the type of content displayed. Traditional models also have Always-On Display mode.
The B&C Agency specialist added that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, the devices in the regular series, will be equipped with cameras with a resolution of 48 megapixels, an eight-element lens and a wide-angle camera.
Samoilenko believes that the first official announcements from Apple about new models will be made in the spring of 2023, and a presentation with accurate information about the cost of the gadget will traditionally be held in the fall.
New master gadget
IT specialist Dmitry Bevza said that Apple wants to introduce an entirely new gadget – an AR headset – in 2023. “This can be judged by hiring experts in VR and AR. Also, the helmet will immediately be bundled with a 3D content video service,” the expert added.
Apple understands its 3D content video service as a virtual world in which the user can interact, but the company and its CEO Tim Cook stubbornly avoid mentioning the word “metaverse” popularized by Mark Zuckerberg with a similar project.
According to Bevza, you should expect that buying a new gadget from Apple will require owning one of the latest iPhone models, as is the case with the Apple Watch smartwatch.
“The integration of the AR headset with iPhone and other devices in the Apple ecosystem will be 100%, and it is no problem to equip such an impressive device with a GSM modem and eSIM,” Bevza said.
Analyst Ivan Samoylenko said that Apple will start producing mixed reality glasses in the spring of 2023, and the device’s presentation is scheduled for December 2023.
At the same time, Samoylenko admitted that Apple will first try to test AR glasses for delivery to commercial companies, and only then move on to mass sales in retail stores.
Bevza added, “The price of this miracle device is estimated to be in the range of 2-3 thousand dollars.”
Back to Russia?
IT specialist Dmitry Bevza believes that if something changes in Apple’s Russia policy in 2023, then it will only get worse. According to him, some fintech startups may appear to pay for paid apps and other services in the App Store in an attempt to avoid restrictions. But the expert believes that such services will not work for a long time, and problems with renewing the Apple ID by mobile number will continue.
“As for Apple Pay, the return of the contactless payment system in 2023 is generally excluded, as banks and Visa and Mastercard payment systems are included in the technological chain of this service,” Bevza said.
According to him, the appearance of Apple devices with the Rostest marking at the end of 2022 does not indicate that the Cupertino company will return to Russia.
“Such a marking can in principle be received on any phone manufactured for the Eurasian Economic Union (EAC) or even for Europe. With devices officially imported into Russia by the spring of 2022, there is either no difference or minimal, ”explained Bevza.
He also pointed out that in 2023, new Apple devices will continue to be imported into Russia through parallel imports, which have been officially legalized by the country’s authorities.
B&C Agency analyst Ivan Samoylenko says Apple, like other major Western companies, may return to Russia only after a few years. According to him, Apple’s return to Russia will depend entirely on geopolitics. The expert pointed to the statements of Western politicians that the sanctions against Russia have been implemented for a long time and will not be lifted quickly.
“Opening a representative office again in a country that the West recognizes as a ‘sponsor of terrorism’ means incurring serious reputational losses. Apple can’t afford it,” Samoylenko concluded.
