Ukrainian citizens bought $1.876 billion in December, 8.3% more than in November, the highest figure of last year. This is stated in the report of the National Bank of Ukraine, as reported by the Strana.ua Telegram channel.
In December, Ukrainians bought $1.425 billion in cash from the vaults of banks and non-banking financial institutions, and another $451 million in non-cash form through mobile apps and online banking.
As stated in the report of the Central Bank of Ukraine, in December, citizens bought the most foreign currency in the whole of 2022.
The last maximum was recorded in September – $ 1.672 billion. Experts explained the increased interest of the population in foreign currency, with high feelings of devaluation of people, who feared the depreciation of the hryvnia.
