Russians started stealing accounts in Telegram messenger on sites that do fake online voting. About it on my blog reported Information security experts from Kaspersky Lab.

“Someone from the list of contacts wants to participate in some kind of online voting and sends a link to the site. To count the votes, you need to enter your phone number and verification code. And in no case should you do this – there is a high probability of losing your account, ”warn experts.

When you receive an invitation to participate in online voting, Kaspersky Lab experts recommend that you first pay attention to the format of the link. Scammers often use link shortening tools as they are less likely to be detected by phishing monitoring services.

Experts also suggested enabling two-factor authentication in Telegram. Even if the user gives the scammer an SMS code to enter Telegram, the attacker does not allow the attacker to take over the victim’s account.
