Scammers have reactivated on the network using a scheme with a “fee” for earnings to steal Russian bank card data. According to cybersecurity company Group-IB, TelegramThis time, the channel is looking for victims on the pretext of getting free gold chains in the New Year’s draw.

“Scam sites with fake jewelry lotteries have popped up. The victim allegedly won a gold chain worth about 250 thousand rubles, but the “organizers” are unable to deliver the prize itself and offer to pay its full value in cash,” the company said.

According to a Group-IB expert, the participant must transfer a “fee” of 521 rubles. As a result, scammers take money from the victim for “task” and bank card details.

According to Group-IB, the amount of losses from such programs can reach 150 thousand rubles. per person, because in some scenarios attackers can steal all the money from the victim’s account.
